The new customization tool, which launched on Aug. 12, allows users to select the sources they want to see pop up when searching online. Once chosen, links to these websites will be featured more frequently in the Top Stories category of their Google feed.
To see more TODAY content in your search results, all you need to do is set TODAY.com as a Preferred Source, and our trending and Shop TODAY content will appear more often. This way, our content will be more easily accessible as you search for an answer to a question or for information on a news story.
Here's all you need to know about the new feature, plus how to set up TODAY.com as a preferred source.
How to Add a Preferred Source on Google Top Stories
Method #1:
To add TODAY.com to your list of Preferred Sources, open up the search bar in your Google browser. Then, type any topic or query into the Google search bar and hit “enter.” Once you receive your search results, scroll through them to locate the “Top Stories” module. This section will populate amid the search results with top headlines related to the inquiry you just looked up.
To customize which news sites pop up in this section, look for the starred folder circle icon next to the title “Top Stories.” Click on the icon, and a page will pop up that allows you to select your Preferred Sources.
In the bar that reads “search by name or website,” type in “TODAY.com.” When it pops up as a result, click the gray checkbox to select your source.
Once you refresh your page, your new preferred source will be set — Google will begin to highlight more TODAY.com articles in the Top Stories section of your Google results.

Method #2:
Another way to set TODAY.com as a Preferred Source is to click on this link. Once you do so, you will then be directed to a search bar. All you need to do to search "TODAY.com" and click the gray check box next to it.
Once the box is checked off, reload the page, and TODAY.com will be added to your list of Preferred Sources.

What Does the Preferred Sources Feature Do?
Once a preferred source is set up, Google will prioritize these sites in the “Top Stories section of your search results the next time you search a specific query. Your selected news sites will also pop up in a new section titled “From Your Sources,” which only features stories from publishers you previously designated as preferred sources.
The new feature allows you to customize what you see online, making search results more convenient and personalized. The resulting section means you'll scroll less to read the news sources you trust most.
